Food, Fun and a New Orlando Tradition Begins with the First Orlando Chili Cook-Off at Baldwin Park

All proceeds to benefit Special Olympics Florida

December 17, 2009 – Grab a spoon and your appetite!  Events for Change, Inc. is hosting the Orlando Chili Cook-Off in Baldwin Park on Saturday, January 30th, 2010, with all proceeds benefitting Special Olympics Florida.

Local foodies and families can come out and enjoy chili samples from local chefs, residents, and previous chili cook-off champions. But the fun does not stop there! Chili won’t be the only attraction; come taste food from local restaurants, hear local bands, meet local business owners and help raise money for a worthy cause.

Judges of the chili cook-off will include Orlando City Commissioner Robert F. Stuart, TV personality and professional chef Jon Ashton, and Mitch English of the Daily Buzz, along with other public figures and celebrities.  Festival attendees also have the chance to vote for their favorite chili contender to win the People’s Choice award.

“This inaugural event will bring together the Orlando community for a good cause,” said Kenneth Roberts, founder of Events for Change, Inc. “It’s a great way to have fun with the entire family, experience excellent chili, and raise money for charity at the same time.”

Admission is $7 and includes samples of all the competing chilies. Beer will be sold for $3.  Gates open at 12 p.m.

Do you have the secret to the best chili in town?  The Orlando Chili Cook-off is still looking for cooks, judges and sponsors for this event. For additional information, visit www.orlandochilicookoff.com.
